We’ll adjust your dog’s food as necessary… a resting dog needs less, for instance (as Darling recently found out).
Bespoke dog food? Using organic or farm assured ingredients? For as little as 99p a day? Delivered direct to your front door? The Darling’s Real Dog Food concept is unashamedly different.
To begin with, Darling’s is made entirely to order. This means that we can adjust it as necessary to suit your dog’s exact needs. It also means that it is always completely fresh. You may care to think of us as your personal canine chef.
A chef, incidentally, that will make your dog (or dogs) very happy because at the heart of the Darling’s concept is fresh, raw food prepared using the finest meat and vegetables. Indeed, if you visit the video area of this website you can see Andy our Master Butcher eating the food himself.
By the way, we offer three ‘to drool for’ recipes: free range chicken, prime beef and tender lamb. We also offer bones, biscuits and treats.
Your first order
The first time you order from us we ask you to supply us with lots of information about your dog as well as – if you have one – a photograph. We particularly want to know about his or her health, lifestyle, personality, likes and dislikes. Based on what you tell us we prepare the first 28 days’ supply on the agreed date in our kitchens.
Prepared and delivered in a matter of hours
The next stage is packing and shipping. The food and other items you have ordered are placed into separate containers and labelled. This is then packed (together with feeding notes) into insulated, recyclable boxes containing freezer blocks and despatched to you using an overnight delivery service. Incidentally, our packaging keeps the food cold for up to 48 hours.
Our aim is to get Darling’s Real Dog Food from field to Fido (or Fifi) in under four days.
Keeping Darling’s fresh
When the shipment arrives we ask you to take it out of the box and put it into your freezer. We suggest that before going to bed every night you simply remove the following day’s food from the freezer so that it has a chance to defrost.
Please keep us up to date
We would like to know how your dog is getting on with our food. We would also like to be kept up to date with any changes in your dog’s health or lifestyle so that we can adjust his or her diet if necessary.
A regular order
Assuming you and your dog are happy with Darling’s we will set up a regular order for you. This will be identical to your first month’s order unless you advise of some factor that requires it to be changed. You can change your order up to seven days before it is due to be prepared and despatched. (We need this notice because our meat is slaughtered and our vegetables are picked entirely to order). We always advise regular customers 14 days before their next order is due to be despatched. Your second order will be planned to arrive several days before you need it so that there is never any risk of you running out of food!
Payment information
We accept all major credit cards. If you become a regular customer we bill your credit card a week before the food is despatched. We always notify you before billing your card.
